An molecule is a type of organic mixture. It's formed when a carboxylic acid reacts with an alkanol. This reaction is called condensation and it usually involves the loss of a water molecule. Esters have a distinct, often sweet odor, which makes them commonly used in fragrances and taste enhancers.
